Environmentally Friendly Wood Floors

For over 30 years the founders of ParaTimber have upheld a mission to help reduce the dependence of dwindling resources by incorporating effective lumber processing and recovery techniques.

FACT: Prefinished engineered wood floors reduce the amount of harvested wood.

ParaTimber built the green bandwagon that all its competitors jumped on. Being green has been part of our heritage even before ParaTimber’s inception. In 1971, our team was the first to use plantation grown Hevea (also known as Parawood or Rubberwood). After 25 years of tapping the rubber trees for latex, their yield decreases and the trees were traditionally cut down and burned. We were the first to recognize a use for this valuable hardwood resource and save it from the burn pile.

Since then, our social consciousness led us to obtain the Forest Stewardship Council's (FSC) chain of custody certificate to allow us to use FSC certified woods from well managed forests. The FSC Chain of Custody (CoC) system connects responsible forest management practices and products with consumers. The chain of custody is the path taken by raw materials from the forest to the consumer, including all successive stages of processing, transformation, manufacturing and distribution. Chain of custody certification provides a guarantee for the production of FSC certified products.

For more information regarding the FSC and the chain of custody please visit www.fscus.org. We also adhere to the FSC’s Controlled Wood standard, which ensures we avoid timber from environmentally and socially damaging sources. We avoid forest operations that:

We actively support legitimate forestry management and illegal-logging ban initiatives in pursuit of protecting our industry from illegal and unfair business practices at the expense of one of earth's most precious resources. We’ve never been concerned with being politically correct. We’ve just always been effective stewards of the environment.

ParaTimber is a proud member of the Rainforest Alliance.
